Sophomore Dorm Room Tour

So I thought I would finally share my sophomore year dorm room tour after. I’m currently in my junior year, so I moved out of here in May and no longer live in this room. I lived in Spencer Hall at SDSU if anyone is wondering! Most of the stuff in here is the same as my freshman year dorm.

Closet

Obviously, the closet was supplied, but I talk more about the objects in my closet. You can read about my clothing staples here.

I used a large laundry basket as my hamper this year because we didn’t have a lot of floor space, but there was plenty of shelf space. I also used this vanity tray to store my perfumes, deodorant and other random objects.

On the wall, I had this weekly whiteboard calendar to write my schedule on. I found these hexagon corkboards from Target in the $1 section at the beginning of the year and hung those up with some photos I printed.

I stored my shower caddy on the floor. I wrote a whole post about all the products that I stored in there last year.

The rug that I have is from Costco and is literally the softest thing ever, but I found a rug from Target that I think is super cute as well and similar colors.

Living Area

I used the same four-cube organizer as I did last year. This has been such a great purchase because I’m able to store so many things, and also it’s pretty easy to move at the end of the year. I used storage cubes and kept my towels, some clothes, and other random items in them.

My roommate and I each brought our own fridge, here is one similar to mine. It’s so nice having a separate freezer and fridge. Mostly it just stored some ice and water because I’m an ice water snob. My roommate brought the TV and rug, I had the same ottoman as last year. Another great purchase, as it serves as a seat and footrest plus it stored all of my shoes.

On top of my fridge, I had some decorations like this Himalayan salt lamp and this rose gold picture frame. As you can see I was also enjoying some Gilmore Girls rewatching at this time!

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1545585748099?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Desk

I didn’t actually use my desk as a place to study but definitely used it as a vanity. For makeup storage, I used this gold storage thing I got from Target (I don’t think they sell this exact one anymore) to hold my makeup brushes. I’ve used this acrylic organizer for makeup storage for like three years now. It’s held up pretty well actually, just doesn’t hold bigger makeup items well.

I also have this lamp that has some storage in it and USB plugins which come in handy. I still use my wax melt warmer to get the scent of candles without actually having candles! Also one of my best purchases is my Hydroflask. It keeps your water cold all day and I love ice cold water!

For decor by my desk, I bought this super cute wall grid from Target. Way less expensive than the ones from Urban Outfitters I was looking at. I also have some more corkboards, but these ones are triangles. I printed off lots of pictures and decorated with those. This is the I Believed She Could sign that I kept on my desk, which was a nice little thing to see every day getting ready.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1541555142032?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Bedroom

Most everything I used on my bed was the same from my freshman year. I still like the pattern and wasn’t going to buy all new bedding just to use for one more year!

I had the same sheet set and comforter from my freshman year. Also, same bedrest pillow, although I didn’t use it nearly as much this year. I also put a grey blanket on the end of my bed for added comfort! Get a mattress topper if you live in a dorm, it makes the beds so much more comfortable!

One of my most used items was this bedside shelf. I kept my phone and other items up there for safe keeping.

For decor, I had my floral initial letters up above my head. I had these in my room last year and they held up really well.

Alright, I think that’s almost everything that I had in my sophomore year dorm room. I don’t live in a dorm this year, but maybe I’ll be more on top of giving an apartment tour in the near future!
