My Anti-Acne Nighttime Skincare Routine

My Anti-Acne Nighttime Routine

In college, I need a simple anti-acne nighttime skincare routine to keep my skin acne free. This five-step process helps keep skin clear and hydrated.

I’ve been struggling with acne for most of my teenage years, and now that I’m in college it has seemed to get a lot worse. Last year I struggled with a lot of breakouts. I have gotten it a little under control, but I still get many breakouts and now have acne scars that I’m trying to get rid of. This is my current routine, and it’s quite easy to follow if you’re in college.

Remove Makeup

I wear a little bit of makeup throughout the day, so I have to remove it at the end of the day. A longtime favorite of mine is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I just put a little bit of the water on a cotton round and swipe it across my eyes and face. It gets all of my mascara off and any face makeup.

Cleanse

I take my showers at night, so I wash my face in the shower. I switch between a gentle cleanser and an exfoliator every other day. For gentle cleanser, I’ve been using Clinque Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam. It’s very gentle and just cleanses the skin without stripping it. To exfoliate, I recently switched to Lush Herbalism. It’s not a super harsh exfoliator, but my skin feels great after using it.

Tone

Another step that I’ve added to my skin this year is a toner. I’m using Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion. This removes all of the excess oil after I’m done cleansing and I think has really helped with some of my spots. I also noticed a huge difference in my skin texture when using this. I also like using exfoliating cotton rounds to apply to the skin.

Treat

Another important step is treating my acne. For an all over solution, I use Clinique Acne Solution All-Over Clearing Treatment. This is a benzoyl peroxide treatment and is good for light breakouts. For bigger breakouts, I use Clean & Clear Acne Spot Treatment. This is a salicylic acid treatment and really gets the job done.

Moisturize

Because the treatments often dry out my skin, and that fact that it is becoming winter I need a good moisturizer. I’m using Lush Celestial Moisturizer because it is a heavy-duty moisturizer. It makes my skin super soft and doesn’t cause any future breakouts because it’s really gentle. My under eyes all need some hydration from Clinique All About Eyes.
