The Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette is the newest addition to my eyeshadow collection! It’s a high-quality palette packed full of beautiful smoky shades. The Naked Smoky palette is definitely a palette that I never saw myself owning, but now I’m glad that I do! Although I’m more of a natural eye makeup wearer, this palette contains the very smoky shades but also shades that you can use to create other types of looks. Of course with true Urban Decay quality, this palette is beautiful and well-formulated.
The Naked Smoky is obviously in the same family as the other Naked palettes and holds a very similar look and feel. Although compared to my Naked3 palette (review here), the packaging is more plastic than the tin that one is in. The front cover is so pretty, and photographs so well, with the whole smoky background going across it! It’s very sturdy and magnetically closes. The palette also comes with a really gorgeous brush. The double-sided brush has one tapered shader brush that is great for crease colors and another precise pencil brush that is good to get a concentrated amount of color.
As I said before, I own the Naked3 palette and another Urban Decay single shadow. The shades in this palette are the exact same formula, which is very high-quality! Of course, my favorite shades are the ones on the outer edges, since these are the neutral shades that are easier to use for every day. The smoky shades can get some use in natural looks just to deepen up the outer corner, add a pop of color to the lower lash line, or used as liners. My favorite shades have to be Combust, which is the perfect transition color for my fair skin, and High, a champagne shimmer.
Although I only purchased this palette because it was half-off, I don’t regret getting it. The Naked Smoky is a high-quality, beautiful palette that forces me to step out of my comfort zone with eyeshadow looks. Everyone needs to have some of these smoky shades in their collection, and Urban Decay shadows are always great picks!
