When I started college, I did not expect it to be this hard. Not only was I moving to a new town to start a new school, but college is so much different than high school. It’s been an adjustment for sure! Then in the spring semester, I also started working an on-campus job, so my time management skills had to get a lot better.
I recently took a little trip to Ulta to pick up one item, but somehow managed to walk out with all of this stuff! Most of this was picked up in the clearance section, but it’s the best place to find new things to try for a great price.
The first thing I picked up is the OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. This is my favorite hair oil that I have tried and needed to repurchase after running out. I keep my hair pretty long, so this keeps it healthy and minimal split-ends. The serum is very lightweight and applies easily to the hair without leaving it looking oily.
The next thing I wanted to try was the Mario Badescu Facial Spray. I’ve heard really good things about this online, so I wanted to give it a go. So far, it’s been working pretty well. It’s very hydrating and sets my makeup beautifully, can’t wait to play around with this more.
My clearance shopping led me to pick up the Yes to Grapefruit Pore Perfection Night Treatment. This is a nighttime moisturizer that claims to minimize pores. I haven’t seen a lot of results so far, but it keeps my face hydrated.
I also found the EcoTools Mattifying Finish Brush. Although I have a few stippling brushes, this one has a different shape, more like a traditional powder brush. I haven’t tried this with powder, only with blush, but it applies that beautifully. Because it is dual-fiber it puts the perfect amount of pigment on the cheeks.
My last find was the OPI I Believe in Manicures. This nail polish is supposed to be like a gel polish and has three steps. I didn’t buy the other two steps but did find the formula was very long lasting. It lasted at least five days without chipping, and even then it was minimal. Very impressed with this formula and will looking into others in the future.
The Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette ($49) is full of 16 warm shades with a few cool-toned ones as well. It’s a great mix of shades, both matte and shimmer, along with the lovely smell of chocolate.
This is actually the first Too Faced palette I ever bought, and now I own three. My post on the Chocolate Chip palette can be found here, and another palette post will be coming soon!
There are so many things that you need for college that you never think of! A lot of these items are things that I’ve picked up along the way or brought from home when I realized I would need them. These are the things that no one really tells you to bring along with you!
Monthly favorites are some of my favorite videos and blog posts! I love seeing what people are loving throughout the month and using. I wanted to try a simpler format for monthly favorites and I like the idea of picking five things/categories and sticking with that.
My skin suffers a lot during the winter. My combination skin comes off of being more oily, to being super dry. So this year I’ve made it a mission to find products that are going to help my skin and keep it hydrated as well. I also suffer from acne every once and a while, so I also need products for that concern. My skin is still not perfect, but it’s getting better and that’s what matters.
The Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette is the newest addition to my eyeshadow collection! It’s a high-quality palette packed full of beautiful smoky shades. The Naked Smoky palette is definitely a palette that I never saw myself owning, but now I’m glad that I do! Although I’m more of a natural eye makeup wearer, this palette contains the very smoky shades but also shades that you can use to create other types of looks. Of course with true Urban Decay quality, this palette is beautiful and well-formulated.
