Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette Review & Swatches

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette has to be one of the most hyped up palettes in the beauty community. It was out of stock online and in stores for such a long time, that when it relaunched I knew that I wanted to try it out. I must say this palette is much hyped for a reason because the quality of this palette is insane! As you’ll see in the swatches below they are super pigmented with just one swipe.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette ($42) is a warm-toned mostly matte palette. The packaging is very cute with a light, lavender velvet cover with cardboard packaging. I know this type of packaging will very easily get dirty, but it will mostly remain on my desk in storage so I hope it doesn’t get too dirty. It does have a magnet closure that is pretty secure, so it’s not going to just pop open.

Shades: Again, warm-toned with mostly matte shadows. Tempera: bone color, perfect for setting primer. Golden Ochre: light taupe-mustard color. Vermeer: champagne shimmer. Buon Fresco: a plummy mauve color. Antique Bronze: a deep brown shimmer. Love Letter: pure magenta. Cyprus Umber: a very dark brown, perfect for deepening up the outer corner. Raw Sienna: a warm, light brown. Burnt Orange: literally burnt orange, beautiful in the crease. Primavera: a golden shimmer. Red Ochre: deep brick red. Venetian Red: a deeper magenta. Warm Taupe: a warm taupe, another perfect crease color. Realgar: a terracotta red.

Thoughts: Originally I didn’t really like this palette or get much use out of it. The shades are extremely pigmented, and that made them a little hard to use at times. These are all such standout shades that require the littlest amount of product to become pigmented on the eyes. There is a little kick-up when you dip your brush into the palette, but very little fall-out on the actual eyes. Each powder performs so well, whether it’s a matte shade or a shimmer. You also get a brush with this palette, and although it performs well with the shadows it is very scratchy on the eyes.

I do think this palette is worth the hype and worth it to pick up. The price is average with other palettes, and you are getting a lot of product with so much pigmentation. If you are a fan of any type of warm-toned shadows then this really is the palette for you and I actually get a lot of use out of most of the palette.
